Hi!
My name is Natalie. I live in Stowe, Vermont with my husband and two young boys.

Pediatric occupational therapy is my main profession, but I am also a mother, author, piano teacher, parent consultant, and parent coach. My career started with a degree in piano performance and pedagogy. Throughout my education, I became fascinated with working with injured musicians and so I pursued an additional degree in occupational therapy with a specialty in hand therapy. During that time, I realized I wanted to work with children, and so after receiving my occupational therapy degree, I moved to Boulder, Colorado to join a multi-disciplinary practice for children with dyslexia and learning disabilities. At the same time, I started my own piano practice called Occupational Piano where I taught piano to neurodivergent children. From there, I pursued additional education in neurochemisty, sensory processing, regulation, and sensory integration. Enthralled with the foundation of sensory processing and changing brain processing, I started an OT practice called The OT Collective that served children who struggled with regulation and sensory processing. I created a team of three pediatric OTs and a cohort of experts, including a pediatric dentist, functional medicine doctor, nutritionist, play therapist, and chiropractor.

By 2018, I had two little boys. During the pandemic, our family moved from Colorado to my hometown in Vermont. From that time until 2022, I focused on parenting, supporting my oldest neurodivergent child, and transitioning from the public school system to homeschooling. I focused on creating online resources for parents who have neurodivergent children.

Around this time, I had developed several autoimmune conditions and was suffering from postpartum anxiety and depression. Inadvertently searching for answers, I became involved in the human development world, which shifted my views on humanity, my sense of self, and my health. With this new knowledge and practice, in 2023 I became a ‘human developer’ with Hey U Human and incorporated this emotional release and support work in my practice with parents.

At the beginning of 2023, I re-established my OT practice in Vermont with a new appreciation for parenting a neurodivergent child, advocating as a parent, and the benefits of knowing first-hand about sensory processing and sensory integration.

This newest endeavor is called Life Unboxed OT and I am so proud of it. This business encompasses everything I have learned as a parent and therapist. I feel confident that it will support and help parents, caregivers, and their children in a holistic and foundational way.

And so, that is my story.
To be continued.

“When parents understand what to do at home with their child and why they are doing it, they are the most powerful supporter and advocate for their child beyond anyone or anything else.”
